This feature was never implemented, and since the
beginning, using this constant with mysqlnd would
result in an error.
This feature was only available with libmysqlclient
which can no longer be used with mysqli.
There are no plans to implement it in the future.
Almost every character set can be given a number N such that a multibyte
sequence starts with a byte higher than that number N. This allows us to
skip a lot of work. To ensure the correctness of this, a sanity check is
implemented that exhaustively tries every 4-byte sequence for every
character set and checks for consistency issues.
This finally gives:
Time (mean ± σ): 120.2 ms ± 1.2 ms [User: 116.9 ms, System: 2.8 ms]
Range (min … max): 118.0 ms … 122.9 ms 24 runs
These methods cannot fail the way they are currently designed. They only
call set_client_option which could fail only with wrong arguments. Since
this is an internal call, the arguments should never change. Either way
set_client_option should not cause init to fail.

We're starting to see a mix between uses of zend_bool and bool.
Replace all usages with the standard bool type everywhere.
Of course, zend_bool is retained as an alias.
This patch follows previous license year ranges updates. With new
approach source code files now have simplified headers with license
information without year ranges.
This patch removes the so called local variables defined per
file basis for certain editors to properly show tab width, and
similar settings. These are mainly used by Vim and Emacs editors
yet with recent changes the once working definitions don't work
anymore in Vim without custom plugins or additional configuration.
Neither are these settings synced across the PHP code base.
A simpler and better approach is EditorConfig and fixing code
using some code style fixing tools in the future instead.
This patch also removes the so called modelines for Vim. Modelines
allow Vim editor specifically to set some editor configuration such as
syntax highlighting, indentation style and tab width to be set in the
first line or the last 5 lines per file basis. Since the php test
files have syntax highlighting already set in most editors properly and
EditorConfig takes care of the indentation settings, this patch removes
these as well for the Vim 6.0 and newer versions.
With the removal of local variables for certain editors such as
Emacs and Vim, the footer is also probably not needed anymore when
creating extensions using ext_skel.php script.
Additionally, Vim modelines for setting php syntax and some editor
settings has been removed from some *.phpt files. All these are
mostly not relevant for phpt files neither work properly in the
middle of the file.
Since more than an year it not possible to create commands in the heap
but they are allocated on the stack and directly run. In this regard, it
doesn't make sense to have all the vararg stuff. Commands made sense
to be created and pushed onto a stack then a general executor will
run thru the stack and execute/handle the commands.
- split MYSQLND_NET into MYSQLND_NET and MYSQLND_VIO
MYSQLND_NET is above MYSQLND_VIO. _NET takes care of protocol packet
counting (even with compressed), while VIO is just about the network
(or in case of windows, non-network, but PIPE) transport.
- remove static function and make it a method. The function doesn't need to
be in mysqlnd_ps.c as it doesn't use any resources anymore from it (it used
in the past)
- removed init() method from mysqlnd_conn_data and moved the initialization
to the object factory->get_connection(). Now it is unified as with the prepared
statement which doesn't have any init() method
- the protocol decoder factory now takes connection as parameter at creation and
thus there is no need to pass the connection as parameter when calling the read
or the write method of a packet.
- saved the protocol payload decoder factory as pointer in every packet (read/write)
so the connection doesn't need to be passed on every call of read/write (dependency
has been already injected at creation). This will alow to move protocol specific
code from MYSQLND_NET (send_ex()) to make MYSQLND_NET leaner and free from protocol
stuff.
